Assignment workflow using ESWin and CAPQ
ESWin has a built-in CAPQ interface, which means that some functions are directly integrated in this software.
This article outlines the recommended workflow for a specifier to create assignments in CAPQ for a supplier, and for a supplier to upload measurements in ESWin when producing against those colour standards.
Pre-requisites
The owner of the colour standards (the specifier) first needs to share them with suppliers:
- To be able to share an assignment in CAPQ, the company needs to be a Supplier in CAPQ. Please contact support@ncscolour to create a Supplier relationship in CAPQ.
- Create an assignment using CAPQ (see Creating an Assignment).
Measure and profile a new sample
- Make sure that you have downloaded the colour standard to your ESWin database.
- Click on the "New Table" button in the left-side panel in ESWin.
- Load the colour standard into your table.
- Position your sample for your ERX31 instrument to measure.
- Click on the "Measure Sample" button in the left-side panel in ESWin.
The measurement will now be sent to CAPQ for profiling and reported against the colour standard in the selected assignment.
ESWIN Note: The CAPQ ID of reported sample measurements is set to the ID of the colour standard in the assignment.
Profile an existing sample
The supplier of the specifier can upload an already existing sample measurement from their local ERX31 database to profile it against a colour standard in an assignment.
ESWIN Note: Only measurements that have been made as sample measurements in ESWin can be profiled as measurements in CAPQ.
- Click on "Windows" in the ESWin menu.
- Click on "Dataset" in the dropdown.
- Browse for the .mdb file containing the sample measurement you want to profile and select it.
- Click "Search".
- In the list of measurements below, click on the measurement(s) you want to profile.
- In ESWin, use the button "Upload" if you want to see how well your measurement matches to an existing colour standard.
- Input the CAPQ ID of the colour standard you want to report the sample against.
- Click on "Continue"
- ESWIN Note: The measurement will get its CAPQ ID set as the ID of the colour standard in the assignment to indicate that it is reported in the specified assignment.
Measurement Approval in Assignments
When a measureement is profiled against the colour standard in an assignment, the measurement will also be added to this assignment. The approval and rejection of measurements is handled differently depending on the type of assignment:
- Manual: The status of any newly uploaded measurement will be "Measurement to send", and not seen by the owner of the assignment (the specifier). In the CAPQ interface the measurement can be sent for approval to the owner of the assignment. Open the assignment, click on the Measurement that should be sent and click the button "Send for review". The owner of the assignment will now see the measurement and can approve or reject it.
- Automatic: The measurement will be rejected or approved by CAPQ based on set tolerances. It will directly be visible for the owner of the assignment and marked as either "Approved by CAPQ" or "Rejected by CAPQ". The owner of the assignment can override the approval or rejection by CAPQ manually by marking the measurement as either "Approved" or "Rejected".
